Culbertson Council Approves Sketch Plans
The Culbertson Town Council held its regular meeting Aug. 11. The council begin the meeting with a visit to the municipal bathhouse project site. Council members discussed issues related to concrete finish work, sidewalks and parking.
Following the site visit, council members approved sketch plans for a mobile home at Wheatland Hills and a chain link fence on 1st Ave. W.
The council approved a request for grant funds related to the bathhouse project in the amount of $102,779. Approximately $48,000 in reimbursements have been received thus far. A motion was passed to tear down the old bathhouse.
The council voted to switch from GIS to Diamond Maps for municipal utilities mapping services moving forward.
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office reported 37 calls for service, one arrest and 17 citations during the previous month. Council members have requested a more detailed breakdown from RCSO, with more information about arrests and citations.
Minerals lease requests were submitted to the town for sites including the old pumphouse, cemetery grounds and lagoon from Phoenix Energy and Kraken Energy. The council requested additional information.
A preliminary budget amendment was passed including a mill levy rate of 243.76, with revenues of $259,192. The council also approved an increase to the bathhouse construction fund. The final numbers for the bathhouse project levy have not been finalized.
The next regular council meeting is set for Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
