Newsies Hits The Stage In Fort Peck
Inspired by the real-life NYC Newsboy strike of
1899, Disney’s popular movie Newsies premiered on film in 1992. It was adapted into a smash live Broadway musical, utilizing all the famous songs from the film. The new Fort Peck Summer Theatre production promises to feature athletic choreography, high-energy action and lots of heart.
Disney’s Newsies is directed by Chanel Bragg, with musical direction by Scott Koljonen and choreography by Lynzee Foreman. Bragg is making her FPST directorial debut. She has previously appeared in FPST’s productions of Buddy Holly, Tarzan and Leader of the Pack, among others.
The production stars Nick Monsos as Jack, Hallie Racicot as Katherine, Colleen Rosbarksy as Medda and Marcus Wolf as Davey.
The cast of 41 features local actors Joel Guttenberg as Les, Henry Holte as Specs and Vic Overbey as Crutchie, plus Isla Belakjon, Jacob Boysun, Jake Brown, Grace Byers, Justice Byers, Samuel Byers, Mylee Clark, Sebastian Gregg, Dan Hance, Eva Hlad, David Hopson, Bristol Krauth, Amber Pearson, Carter Pippin, Leah Potter, Gabriel Proctor, Amani Probert, Mylee Rasmusen, Jayli Roller, Sabra Sims, Annika Smith, Gwen Turner, Sadie White, Brooke Marie Watson and McKay Yoakam.
Performances run through Aug. 10, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.
