New Police Chief Hired In Wolf Point

A man with more than 15 years of law enforcement experience in Vermont has been hired to serve as Wolf Point’s new police chief.

Wolf Point Mayor Chris Dschaak said he doesn’t know the specific date that Anthony Cambridge will start his duties because of the long distance move, but he is hopeful that it will be by the end of the month.

“I can’t wait for him to start and get in the swing of things,” Dschaak said. “There will be a learning curve due to our location, but I’m very optimistic for the police department.”

Cambridge’s experience includes serving as a police chief for about six years. He is married and the father of four children.

Dschaak says that Cambridge’s knowledge will be a benefit to Wolf Point’s young police force “I feel his addition with his experience will work really well for them,” Dschaak explained.

Cambridge was recommended by a three-person interview committee and then approved by the city’s personal policy/wage committee by an unanimous vote. Dschaak called to make the job offer to Cambridge.

With the arrival of a new chief along with the current five officers and an animal control officer, the police department might be 100 percent fully staffed for the first time in many years.

Long-time police chief Jeff Harada has been serving as the department’s administrative chief for the last three months.

“I owe him a lot personally,” Dschaak said of Harada’s service. “He helped our city when we needed him the most.”
