The Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede’s parade has an exciting theme this year. Organizer Erin Ricker is pleased with the theme of “Rodeo: A Family Game Night.”

“I’m glad with the theme, it’s something to get creative with,” Ricker said. “Think board games and family fun, think big.”

The parade begins at 1 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Line-up starts at 11:30 a.m. There is no need to pre-register.

“My favorite days is Friday because everybody is excited,” said Ricker, who has now been organizing the annual parades for seven years. “It’s the biggest day for the parade and it gets the town excited. It’s the best energy.”

To be eligible to win float awards, entries must be in both parades.

The categories has changed some from previous years. Categories for this year’s parade include: Horses: Youth cowgirl, youth cowboy, adult cowgirl and adult cowboy.

Cars: Best original vehicle and best restored vehicle.

Floats: Commercial, youth club, adult club and cultural.

A prize of $100 will be awarded to the grand overall winner.

Ricker hopes this is her final year as the parade’s organizer. She would like if someone “shadows” her this year. She hopes to volunteer in other areas during future Stampedes.

Ricker reminds float riders that spraying the crowd with water isn’t permitted. Toss candy lightly to the crowd and away from any other parade vehicles and maintain a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.
