Commissioners Approve Purchases During Meeting
Roosevelt County Commissioners approved two purchases during their weekly meeting on Tuesday, April 22.
Commissioners approved a bid from ABC Automotive in Poplar to replace the motor of an existing fire engine with the Poplar Fire Department.
Commissioner Doug Marottek said ABC will provide a three-year, 100,000-mile warranty. Commissioners said benefits include that the 2012 fire engine can be served and towed locally.
The bid from ABC was $10,252. The second purchase regarded security cameras for the sheriff office’s evidence building. Cost is $16,760, and it will be paid for through the office’s drug forfeiture funds.
Commissioners approved $23,500 for the county’s DUI Task Force budget. Task Force coordinator A.J. Allen said the amount is the same as last year.
“A.J. is doing an excellent job for the program, and we want to keep it rolling,” Commissioner Gordon Oelkers said.
Commissioners expressed sympathies to the family of the late Ken Norgaard, who was the county’s road foreman at the time of his recent death. Norgaard served as an employee of Roosevelt County for 18 years.
Oelkers said a recent Local Emergency Planning Committee involved a table top exercise regarding if a major fire occurred on a rural area of the Fort Peck Reservation.
