Pheasant Hunting Season Opened Oct. 10

Pheasant season opened on Saturday, Oct. 10, and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is busy with a second round of pheasant releases at several state lands sites across the Montana.

As a reminder, nonresidents can begin hunting pheasants Oct. 10 on private land that is not enrolled in a hunting access program, with landowner permission. However, nonresident hunters using private lands enrolled in FWP hunting access programs — including block management — or hunting on public lands may not begin hunting pheasants until Oct. 20.

Hunting for other species of upland birds, including turkeys, mountain grouse, sharp-tailed grouse and grey partridge, is currently open to both residents and nonresidents. Applicable license requirements and area restrictions apply.
