Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 120 cases between Sept. 21-28.
The calls includes the following: Sept. 21
Deputies were dispatched to a county road near Bainville on a report of a vehicle catching fire in a field. A semi-truck was smoking. The Bainville Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene.
Sept. 22
Deputies responded to an apartment building in Poplar for a report of the theft of a guitar. The investigation is still open.
Sept. 23
Deputies and Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice’s narcotics offi cer received a report of a wanted male possibly hiding in a Wolf Point apartment building. The male was found hiding in a closet. Channing Eder, 38, was arrested on authority of a U.S. federal warrant. He was transported to the Roosevelt County jail.
Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to a vehicle that was driven off the road on BIA 75 and Highway 2. An adult male in the vehicle said he was in pain with a back injury. An ambulance was called. FPTDLJ was the investigating agency.
Sept. 25
While patrolling Wolf Point, a deputy spotted a female who was wanted on a warrant. Ronette Lindsay, 36, ran away and was found hiding under a tree. She picked up a milk crate and used it as a shield. Another female came to assist her. Lindsay also used her as a shield. The deputy deployed a taser dry stun on her. She was placed in handcuffs and taken to Fort Peck tribal jail for resisting arrest and for an active warrant.
Sept. 27
Deputies responded to tribal housing west of Wolf Point where an adult male said he was threatened and his friend was beaten up by other males. The report was that the males inside a SUV pointed a gun on them and claimed that the victims owned them money. Officers located the suspected vehicle. An adult male and a juvenile male were detained by FPTDLJ. The suspects admitted that a gun was used to threaten the other individuals. Officers located a rifle inside the vehicle. The juvenile was cited for unlawful possession of intoxicating beverages while under the age of 21. A warrant was issued for another male for aggravated assault. Two other adult males were charged with simple assault. FPTDLJ secured the rifle.
Outside of Culbertson on Highway 2, two semitrucks were involved in a minor accident. The vehicles were hauling sand. Drivers were from North Dakota and Idaho. There were no charges.
Sept. 28
Deputies were called to the front of the MDU building in Poplar for a report of disorderly conduct between two males. The males were separated.
Statistics for the past week were: Wolf Point city limits, 10; Wolf Point rural, five; Wolf Point FPHA, four; Poplar city limits, 25; Poplar rural, seven; Poplar FPHA all other, 10; Poplar FPHA Airport Addition, three; Culbertson town, 16; Culbertson rural, nine; Bainville town, six; Bainville rural, 15; Froid town, two; Froid rural, five; Brockton town, one; Brockton rural, one; Fort Kipp, two; total, 120.
