Poplar Scores 72-22 Football Win In Fairview

Poplar accounted for the game’s first 39 points and rolled to a 72-22 conference football victory at Fairview on Friday, Sept. 11.

The game’s first points came on a safety due to a poor snap on a punt attempt by Fairview.

After a 28-yard kick return by Poplar’s Anthony Youngman, the Indians used a strong running game to drive down the field. Houston Eder scored on a four-yard run for Poplar. Donald Iceman battled in for the conversion and a 10-0 lead.

The Indians soon were in scoring position again when another poor punt attempt snap gave Poplar possession at the Fairview one. On first down, Iceman scored to increase Poplar’s advantage.

After an interception by Iceman, the Indians went on to score on a four-yard smash by Eder. On the conversion try, Youngman scored for a 26-0 margin.

Poplar’s next touchdown came on a 22-yard pass from Chasen Pribbernow to Keilen Erickson for a 32-0 lead.

Poplar’s first score of the second quarter came when Youngman raced 41 yards for a touchdown at the 8:50 mark.

After Fairview scored on a 32-yard touchdown pass, Poplar’s Bostyn Azure broke loose for a 15-yard touchdown run to put the margin at 45-6 with 2:46 left in the half.

The Warriors accounted for the first two touchdowns of the second half to close the margin to 4522.

Poplar responded with a 22-yard quarterback keeper run by Chasen Pribbernow to increase the lead to 51-22.

After an interception by Pribbernow, the Indians reached the end zone on a 10-yard throw from Pribbernow to Erickson. Pribbernow ran in the conversion for a 59-22 margin near the end of the third quarter.

Poplar’s first touchdown of the fourth period came on a 35-yard dash by Pribbernow.

Azure then intercepted a pass and raced 45 yards for a touchdown. Pribbernow scored the conversion for a 72-22 final.

The Indians will host Culbertson on Friday, Sept. 18.
