Stentoft Used To Winning State Titles

(Editor’s note: This article in the first of a series profiling Scobey High School’s seniors.)
One could say that Scobey High School senior Aydan Stentoft is accustomed to winning. Last school year, Stentoft was on both the school’s state championship football and state championship golf teams. In between, he was a member of Scobey’s state winning swimming team during the summer.
“It’s great to have everybody work so hard and push each other,” Stentoft said of the state titles.
He is most proud of Scobey’s football championship achievement. “It’s a pretty long season,” he explained. “It’s a lot of dedication. It’s great when it pays off.” In football, the lineman has earned All-State honors as a senior and All-Conference recognition as a junior. He enjoys the physical aspect of the game while playing on the line. He also takes pride in having quality snaps from the center position.
He placed seventh at the state golf tournament as a junior in order to claim All-State status. He improved a good deal prior to his junior year by spending time on the golf course during the summer.
“I knew I had the ability,” Stentoft said.
As far as swimming, he has placed well at state meets in the freestyle and backstroke.
He is also involved in the Scobey’s FFA Chapter. He is a member of the mechanics team.
“We’ve done OK,” Stentoft said. “We’ve been in the middle of the pack.”
He added, “I like working with engines and doing welding.”
In the classroom, Stentoft’s favorite subjects are English and history.
“It’s a good environment. I like gaining all the knowledge I get for English and history,” Stentoft said.
He said his favorite teacher was John States, who retired from teaching last year.
“He was a great teacher. He made everything interesting and fun,” Stentoft said.
After high school, Stentoft is uncertain of his plans. He mentioned attending a trades school or playing football at the collegiate level.
