WPCO Hears Update On Housing Commission
The Wolf Point Community Organization’s meeting included comments from Tribal Executive Board members about the housing commission on Monday, Aug. 17.
TEB member George Blount shared a report from the fee accountant regarding actions by the housing commission. The fee accountant reported that the housing board of commissioners spent $994,558.28 on several items such as forensic audits, meals, travel and other various expenses.
Blount said a report from the U.S. Treasure is expected in the next 10 days or so.
TEB member Marva Chapman said, “They’re innocent until proven guilty. I want to hear both sides of the story.”
Chapman told WPCO members that a TEB member called her “stupid” for saying that the board of commissioners should be brought back. Chapman explained that means having the commission return and not necessarily certain commissioners.
TEB made the decision in December 2025 to sus- pend housing commissioners for six months.
Later in the meeting, WPCO approved up to $8,000 to honor the three individuals’ remains returning to the Fort Peck Reservation from the Carlisle Boarding School. Expenses will include a four-day feast, shirts for community members and three star quilts for the families.
Wayne Two Bulls plans to meet with event organizers regarding WPCO’s role in the recognition.
“We wanted our community to be involved also,” WPCO chairman Jason Hamilton said.
WPCO members approved paying the City of Wolf Point $7,600 for swimming pool passes.
