It Could Have Been Her,
by Lisa Jewell is a new psychological thriller that takes place in England. Jane Trevally finds a small white dog while she is walking on her estate. Being the dog mom to four dogs of her own, her concern causes her to search out the owner.
Turns out, the owner lives in London, hours away! Here, she encounters Stuart Tucker, and this just sets the hairs on the back of her neck standing straight up! Creeps her out, big time! And to top it off, he actually lives in the very place where Jane was kidnapped as a child, 20 years ago. There are many more questions than answers at this point!
But, answers she must have, so she keeps digging. The dog, Hugo, belongs to a young girl named Daisy. Daisy has disappeared, and Jane is determined to get to the bottom of these haunting connections!
Big Little Truths by Liane Moriarty is the second in the Big Little Lies series. This is a contemporary mystery/thriller. In the first book, we saw Madeline, Celeste and Jane, with a friendship that still stands today. Their children, now in high school, grown up from play dates to drama, drama, drama!
The principal at the school receives a severed finger which, pardon the pun, seems to point to the new history teacher! The moms are set on finding out to whom the digit belongs! And the kids have their own issues, and that includes the repercussions from the trauma of their childhood!
There is also a weird guy asking questions around the school and something is in the works for D-Day, but you will have to read the book to find out! Oh, and there is also a ghost that is haunting them!

by Chris Whitaker. This historical fiction thriller takes place in 1975 in Missouri. This is a story about trauma and obsession, with a love story throw in!
Patch Macauley is a local boy, who was born with only one eye. This becomes his symbol of resilience. An act of bravery sets in motion a chain of events that affects all of those around him. His journey is a testament to his strong spirit, but he struggles with the shadows of obsession and the hope of a connection. The author delves into the ripple effects of trauma and the different ways people use to cope with fear and loss. You won’t want to put this book down!
Book Club meets Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m. and Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. Just contact us for a copy of the book and join us for discussion. We will resume winter hours the week of Sept. 14. Our new hours will be Monday- Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 pm, Thursday we are open till 8 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. After-school programming will begin that week.
