Team Performs Mission Work In Wolf Point

For the fourth straight year, a team of volunteers from Mosaic Church in Littleton, Colo., performed community service projects in Wolf Point. Along with spreading a message at the Gospel Fellowship Church’s Vacation Bible Adventure, the team conducted several other positive experiences in the community.

On Monday, July 20, they helped unload and sort items at the Wolf Point Food Pantry. The following day, they assisted with the distribution of food at the pantry.

Martha Cercy, one of the volunteers, said that 9,188 pounds of food was given to a total of 965 people during the day.

The team served lunch to the homeless one day and then gave away 60 breakfast burritos to the homeless on Thursday morning. They also provided water and a hygiene bag to each of the individuals.

Eight of the team members, four for each side of town, cleaned Wolf Point’s alleys on Wednesday. From the south side of town, they collected two tons of items for the landfill including part of a piano and discarded furniture. Four loads of a flatbed truck were taken away from south side alleys and three loads from north side alleys.

The team is also donating 450 hats and gloves for Northside and Southside students. The items will be presented closer to winter.

Team members took part in positive conversations with Wolf Point Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Perkins.

“We’re trying to come up with a partnership with the schools,” Cercy said. “We just want to find different ways to serve the community.”

This is the fourth year that Cercy has come to Wolf Point to perform the volunteer work. Next year, she will serve as the group’s leader.

“I love kids and love serving the community,” she said. “I feel that I’m led by God to come here.”

The week-long Vacation Bible Adventure at Gospel Fellowship Church attracted nearly 100 students.

“I love planting seeds of the Holy Spirit to these kids,” Cercy said. “We want to leave them with the feeling that they matter.”
