Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 173 calls from July 20-27.

The calls included the following: July 20

Deputies received a report from Fort Kipp regarding an assault. Deputies showed up to the scene and were told by family members that there wasn’t a fight. Five minutes later, dispatch requested deputies back to the scene where two females were fighting in an alley. One female was using a wooden stick as a weapon. Shalene Menz-Crazy Bull, 37, of Culbertson was charged with partner/family member assault and taken to the tribal jail.

Deputies responded to Main Street in Wolf Point near Sherman Park. Deputies assisted the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice to apprehend an adult male with a warrant. The male was intoxicated. Matthew Gustafson, 40, was transported to the Roosevelt County jail.

July 22

While patrolling the Wolf Point area, a deputy observed an adult female known to have a tribal court warrant. An FPTDLJ officer said the warrant was no longer active. Dispatch then advised deputies that the warrant was active. Heather Jackson, 42, was arrested on authority of a warrant.

July 23

While patrolling Poplar’s city limits, deputies received a report of a sexual harassment incident at the community center/bingo hall. A reporting party said he saw an adult female being groped by a male. The party said the female was attempting to get away from the male. When deputies arrived, the female said that they were just playing around and everything was all right. The female, who was on probation, was seen drinking. She was taken to tribal court for criminal contempt.

July 24

Deputy/coroner assisted FPTDLJ regarding a report of an unattended death in Poplar. A 46-year-old adult male was found dead at his residence. An autopsy will be conducted this week.

July 25

Town Pump in Wolf Point reported an adult male who was refusing to leave and was harassing customers. Deputies detained the male and observed a video of him bothering customers. Javian Azure, 25, was charged with criminal trespass and loitering. He was taken to tribal jail.

July 26

Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to the Sherman Inn in Wolf Point where an adult male came in and said he was stabbed. He was bleeding from an arm. The ambulance was called. The case is under investigation.

July 27

Deputies responded to the Bainville area for a civil dispute between a citizen and a contractor. Deputies took a report.

Statistics for the past week were: Wolf Point city limits, 32; Wolf Point rural, four; Poplar city limits, 45; Poplar rural, two; Poplar FPHA all other, 23; Poplar FPHA Airport Addition, 14; Culbertson town, 15; Culbertson rural, five; Bainville town, five; Bainville rural, nine; Froid town, one; Brockton town, five; Brockton rural, five; Fort Kipp, seven; total, 173.
