Cox Changes Plea To Drug Charges

Jauron Cox of Redford, Mich., changed his plea to guilty for two drug related charges in Roosevelt County District Court on Wednesday, July 15.

Cox originally made not guilty pleas for the felony charges of criminal possession with intent to distribute meth and criminal possession with intent do distribute fentanyl.

On Wednesday, July 15, he changed his plea to guilty for the felony charges of criminal possession with intent to distribute meth and the amended charge of criminal possession of fentanyl.

During the hearing, Cox admitted that he was a passenger in a vehicle near Bainville on Feb. 10. He admitted that he was given a plastic water bottle that he threw out of the vehicle. That water bottle contained meth and fentanyl.

A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered by District Judge Benjamin Fosland.

According to a report from the Roosevelt County Sheri ’s O e, a deputy observed through footage from her vehicle’s backseat camera that Cox talked on the phone and told a male that he was going to “drop pin bro and come back later on,” and also that Cox talked about “retrieving it.”

A deputy searched the area and came across a large water bottle a few feet o of the paved edge of the roadway. The deputy saw a large amount of meth inside the bottle. He also saw a baggie that contained blue pills that were similar in size and appearance to fentanyl pills. The suspected meth weighed closed to a pound. A deputy counted out 150 blue pills.

Two other individuals involved in the incident have also made guilty pleas.

On June 10, Calvin Corne made guilty pleas to the charges of criminal possession with intent to distribute meth and the amended charge of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, fentanyl.

On June 23, Cody James Corne changed his plea to nolo contendere or no contest for the charges of criminal possession with the intent to distribute meth and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

Pre-sentencing investigations have been ordered for both defendants.
