Poplar Man Violates Terms Of Release
After being accused of violating the conditions of his supervised release, Poplar’s Silas John Drum was recommended to be in custody for five months with 105 months of supervised release to follow in U.S. District Court on Tuesday, July 7. He should then be placed in a residential re-entry center for a period of up to 180 days at the direction of his probation officer.
On Feb. 2, 2016, Drum pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact. He was sentenced to 130 months in custody followed by 10 years of supervised release. His current term of supervised release began on March 5, 2026.
Drum admitted on June 3, 2026, that he had violated the conditions of his supervised release. The violated conditions included leaving his residence on May 15, without the permission of his probation officer; leaving his residence on May 26, without the permission of his probation officer; and failing to return to his residence at his scheduled time on May 28.
He then admitted on July 7 that he violated three additional terms of his supervised release. Those violations included failure to follow the instructions of his probation officer regarding completion of his home confinement daily activity form; violating the conditions of home confinement by submitting a partially completed schedule of his proposed activities for the week of June 28; and violating the terms of home confinement by failing to be in his room at the Poplar Hotel on July 1, without the permission of his probation officer.
