Entertainment Provides Enjoyment At Stampede Talent Show
A great variety of entertainers was enjoyed by a large crowd for the Wolf Point Stampede Talent Show on Tuesday, July 7. The show was moved inside to the Elks Lodge due to stormy weather throughout the day.
Clyta Dillon, one of the event’s organizers, was delighted with the turnout and the 10 performing acts. After the Colgate Country Showdown attracted crowds in Wolf Point for years, such a talent show hasn’t been offered during the last few years.
“We really missed having the music on Tuesday night,” Dillon said during last week’s performance. “It was so much fun.”
She explained that the planning by herself, Helen Welte and Cassandra Solberg started back in January.
“We just started working,” Dillon said. “What one didn’t think of, another one would.”
Organizers thanked the outpouring of support by local businesses that resulted in $2,100 of prize money. In addition, the group also made $150 donations to the Yellowjacket baseball program and Elks Lodge for their contributions of making the night successful.
Alexander “Brother Smoke” Cooper was the firstplace winner with his excellent performance of an original song.
The Gentlemen, featuring Cole Boysun and Walker Harmon, earned second-place honors with their two musical numbers. The Gentlemen also received half of the 50/50 pot by being voted the fans’ favorite.
Taking third were Rex and Ann Green after their delightful performance of two songs.
The Raptor Rhythm Crew featuring Tyleen Shields and Ezekiel Shields performing a dancing skit and show as dinosaurs placed fourth.
The Love Monkeys, consisting of Lucas Deserly and Maya Deserly, took fifth place.
Family was a large theme of the show as brothers, sisters, parents and children were among the entertainers providing acts.
