Bullfighter Making First Trip To Stampede
Bullfighter Josiah Johns is new to the Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede and is looking forward to the experience of participating in the famous rodeo.
The 20-year-old Johns started bullfighting was he was only 13 years old. He explained that he was encouraged by a very good friend of his grandfather’s rodeo company.
“I looked up to him. I followed in his footsteps,” Johns said. “I fell in love with it.”
The native of the Brighton Indian Reservation in Florida earned his pro card at the age of 19, “It was really everything I dreamed it would be,” Johns said of getting his pro card. “To accomplish that as a teenager meant the world to me.”
He says he has already experienced his share of close calls while as a professional bullfighter.
“A lot closer that I would like to say,” Johns said of his action. “I’ve been blessed. The Good Lord has taken care of me.”
Johns says he really loves the sport of rodeo and his profession.
“For me, it’s the selflessness of it,” he said. “You put your own well being in front of somebody else.”
He has been busy working rodeos in Texas, but he is eager to make his first visit to Montana.
“I’m looking forward to finding out about it,” Johns said of the Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede.
He is being sponsored by Cattlemen’s Cut and Wolf Point Liquor.
“I’m looking forward to making some new friends,” Johns said of his time at the Stampede.
