James Murphy
James Daniel Murphy, 56, died March 4, 2026, in Wolf Point.
He was born May 27, 1969, to Leonarda “Lenny” Burshia and James “Jim” Murphy in Poplar. Growing up, he was raised and went to school in Poplar, Brockton and Bowman, N.D. He worked on the oil rigs with his father and brother Leonard in his younger years.
On May 29, 1998, James married his first wife Starla “Hutch” White Hawk. They had three children, Jorda, Tayton and Jasmine.
He was an outgoing person and did what he could for his family. He always made sure his family was good. Everyone called him a big teddy bear growing up.
On March 1, 2020, he married Chelsea Williams and spent his days with her and her grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Jorda Murphy; son, Tayton Murphy; wife, Chelsea Murphy; father, Jim Murphy; step-children, Jade Black Eagle and Thomas Lee Jr. Black Eagle; Matthew Williams; brothers, Troy Cotter, Tommy Murphy, Donald Muphy, Kelly Murphy and Calvin Lester; sisters, Atonya Stokka, Patsy Butterworth, Sheila Mathews, Angel Murphy and Crystal Azure; and numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamine Murphy; brothers, Leonard Murphy and Bryon Muphy; and stepdaughter, Renee Black Eagle.
Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
