Baker Discusses Candidacy With Froid Council

The Froid Town Council held its regular monthly meeting March 16 in the community hall. Mayor Sherri Crain was absent. Guests included Penny Ryder and Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jason Baker.

Following the reading and approval of meeting minutes for February, the council heard the public works report and the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office report for the month.

The council approved accounts receivables and claims for payment and discussed a Nemont fiber optic project, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance issues for the town website and remaining available funding for ARPA projects.

Baker spoke to the council about his candidacy for sheriff. He has 13 years experience with the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office and served as an officer with the Fort Peck Tribal Police. A longtime referee for area sports, Baker is currently commander of the county detention center and sits on the board of the Montana Peace Officer’s Association. Former law enforcement officer Wes Headdress has also filed for the position.

The next meeting of the Froid Town Council is set for April 13.
