Fort Peck Salmon Derby Set For July 31

The first Fort Peck Montana Tournament of Kings is set For July 31-Aug. 1, with the possibility of an additional day Aug. 2. Registration for the salmon fishing event opens March 15. A mandatory rules meeting is set for July 30.

Big payouts, live weigh ins and more are being promoted by the Glasgow Area Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture. A $200 fee covers both days for single entries. A $400 fee covers two, three or four person teams. There is a team limit of 150.

The top four fish caught each day will pay out $10,000, $7,500, $5,000 and $3,750 respectively. Any salmon caught between 6 pounds and 17 pounds are eligible for the day pots. After all salmon are weighed in, organizers will pull two random salmon weights on stage each day. The closes salmon to each weight will receive $7,500 each.
