Area School Districts Feature Contested Races

Several school districts in the area will have contested races for school board positions this spring. In Wolf Point, Pryce Paulson and Darryl Ricker have filed for the three-year position in District 1.

No one has filed for Wolf Point’s three-year term in District 5. Trenton Wemmer is the incumbent. Holly Denny Gourneau has announced that she will be a write-in candidate. The deadline for write-in candidates is March 2.

Four individuals have filed for the two open three-year positions in Poplar. The candidates are Christopher Headdress, Adrian Spotted Bird, Thomas Brown and Kenneth Smoker Jr.

Two positions are open in Frazer. Filed candidates are current chairman Yancy Beston, Michael Cole, Chris Miller, Angie Toce and Dorian Talks Different.

There are three candidates for two positions in Culbertson. The candidates are incumbent Wendy Becker, incumbent Christopher Petersen and Erin Rhodes.

In Brockton, Keith Belgarde is running unopposed for a school board seat.

Election day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5.
