Dakota, Nakoda Language Classes Offered

Dakota and Nakoda language classes and tables are being offered throughout the month of February at the Fort Peck Community College Language and Culture Department classroom in Poplar and the Wolf Point Community Hall.

Language tables present an opportunity for students of the languages to mix with and learn from elders and community members in person, with an emphasis on cultural context and oral history. All classes and tables are free to the public and all ages and levels are welcome.

A Dakota language table is being hosted Tuesdays in Poplar at the L& C classroom from 5-6 p.m., hosted by Alexx James. A Nakoda language table is being hosted Thursdays in Wolf Point at the Community Hall classroom from 5-6 p.m., hosted by Winona Runsabove, Runsabove will also host a Nakoda language class with lessons and vocabulary study at the Wolf Point Community Hall Thursdays from 6-7 p.m.

A Dakota language event is hosted Wednesday at the L& C classroom in Poplar starting at 5 p.m., with teacher Ethan Three Stars.
