Lustre News

It’s going to be a white Christmas at Lustre this year, as the snow piles up. Roads are still treacherous, with the 250 and the 438 both ice covered since last Monday. Great care is a must and speeds around 40 are max on even the gravel. Two-three inches of snow fell this week.

On Monday, 31 ladies braved the snowy roads to attend the MB Church Christmas Party, the community’s first event of the Christmas season. “Mary Stableton gave her testimony. She did a fantastic job!” said Lisa Neufeld, the MB ladies’ leader. “She spoke about how God was so faithful to her during her life. He walked with her through suffering and joy. This has enabled her to comfort others and share salvation with many people. We are called to take one step in the direction God is calling us. She challenged us to follow God into the unknown one step at at time.”

The special music was sung by Mindy Olfert with “Emmanuel (Hallowed Manger Ground),” written by Chris Tomlin. Its words include “God incarnate here to dwell.” Mary Stableton is from Glasgow and the brother of Gary Wiens.

From Judi Perez, “For those of you who knew my father, Frank C. Wiens, he went to be with his Lord and Saviour Dec 1, 2025. A celebration of life service will be held on Dec 13, 2025, at 10:30 in the Cornerstone Bible Church, Mt Lake, Minn. He was also reunited with my mom, Ethel, who went ahead of him June 5, 2025.” Both Frank and Ethel grew up in Lustre and graduated from their schools. Frank was pastor of the Cornerstone Bible Church as Gary, Judi and Jim were in their teens.

Coming events this December are the Lustre Grade School program on the Tuesday, Dec. 16, and The EMB Christmas program will be Dec. 21, at 6 pm. Come, but plan on extra time to travel!
