Frazer Thanksgiving Meal
Frazer High School’s boys take part in the Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, Nov. 20.
A week before the actual holiday, Frazer School officials were thanking their community members with a Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday, Nov. 20.
The traditional meal consisted of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, pasta salad and pumpkin pie.
Cook DeJondra Jackson estimates that the feed for community members and parents started more than 30 years ago and the event always attracts a good amount of people.
The kitchen staff performed the preparation work the day before. The meal needed to be ready by the time that the first wave of students came for lunch at 10:30 a.m.
Frederick and Marian Old Person, parents of two current Frazer students, have come to the meal for about the last 11 years.
“Our oldest daughter just graduated from high school last year,” Marian explained. “It’s nice to just be able to eat with our kids and visit.”
Taryn Jackson, a paraprofessional, said she really enjoyed the meal and added that the pumpkin pie was her favorite part.
Superintendent Sarah Ruff said the school is offering more and

more community events and most of them are fairly well attended.
“They feel welcomed and they like what we’re doing at the school,” Ruff said of community members.
Students had a variety of answers of which part of the meal that they enjoyed the most.
Bailey Hotomanie, a third-grader, says the turkey and the gravy were her favorite parts.

pumpkin pie.” She added that she enjoyed spending time with her family at the meal.
Jaycelynn Mail, a sixth-grader, enjoyed the pepperoni in the pasta salad.
On the same day at the school, the Valley County Health Department conducted a vaccine clinic. Vaccines were provided for the flu and COVID.
Ruff said the goal of the clinic is to keep students well and in school.
