The Frazer School Board held a discussion regarding to allow school board members to have concealed and carry authority with firearms at the school last week.

Superintendent Sarah Ruff said there were mixed opinions shared by trustees and audience members about the issue. It was mentioned during the meeting that Custer School adopted such a policy.

“It was pretty controversial,” Ruff said of last week’s discussion in Frazer.

Trustees decided to table the decision until their January meeting.

Trustees voted not to advertise for a superintendent substitute. The idea was for the position to handle some tasks when Ruff is out of town.

The school district held its STEM night on Thursday, Nov. 13, to encourage students to learn more about science, technology, engineering and math with interactive and engaging activities.

Dinner was served during STEM night. Ruff said family engagement activities have been held weekly and provide meals for community members.

On Thursday, Nov. 20, the school will offer a Thanksgiving dinner from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The community dinner was very popular when it was held last year.

“It was great,” Ruff said. “We had a great turnout and families loved it.”

Also on that day, the Valley County Health Department will provide a vaccine clinic.
