Food Pantry Looks For Assistance
The Wolf Point Food Pantry continues to need financial assistance in order to serve area residents.
Gary Johnson, coordinator for the food pantry, said it was open 14 times so far during 2025.
Volunteers served 2,655 families, which represents 11,777 individuals. A total of 136,448 pounds of food were distributed.
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, a total of 228 families were served, which is about an average amount.
“Our numbers increased when they lost the extra SNAP funds because of COVID, and it never went down,” Johnson explained.
Income received so far in 2025 has been $49,622. That amount has included $25,000 from the Fort Peck Tribes, $12,500 from the Elks Lodge, $6,100 from the Town Pump Foundation, $5,300 from individuals, $3,500 from First Lutheran Church, $500 from Presbyterian women and $245 from a yoga group.
Expenses have been $48,854, which include $47,323 for food.
“We basically have spent every penny we got in last year,” Johnson said.
The food pantry is open every second Tuesday of the month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The next distribution day is Dec. 9.
