Margaret Hernandez

Margaret Florence Hernandez, Anpetu Wakan Wiyan, Holy Day Woman or Sunday Woman, 46, of Poplar died Oct. 30, 2025, at the Poplar Community Hospital.

She was born Nov. 18, 1978, to Carmen A. Hernandez Jr. and Mavis Scott Hernandez. Her adopted mother was Annabelle Jones and Robert “Bobby” Youpee was her adopted father. She attended Poplar Schools where she participated in wrestling, football and basketball. She went to state for Poplar High School for wrestling.

She enjoyed listening to music, watching Orlando play horseshoes, Mason playing basketball and visiting/ gossiping about her family and friends. She was a fan of the University Montana Grizzlies and a supporter of the United States Marine Corps in honor of her brothers Chad Hernandez, Conrad Scott and Jimmy John Chase.

She is survived by her children, Damon Menz, Artie Crazybull Menz, Mason menz, Lance Menz, Jessi Menz, Karmen Menz, Mabel Menz, Winter and Aurora Starr; adopted children, Malcolm Goodbird Jr., Jeremy Longee Jr. and Dewayne Shoots Jr.; and siblings, Robyn Hernandez, Ethan Crazybull, Antonia “Mia” Hernandez, Jacinda LaRoque, Elayne Scott, Elton and Faron Jones, John and Emery Goodbird.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Carmen “Chad” Hernandez III, Conrad Scott, Callen Cloke and Orlando Hale.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment was at Poplar City Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
