Red Hawks Drop Season Finale Against Fusion
The Froid/Lake Red Hawks put up a good fight in their final football game of the season before falling to Richey/ Lambert, 66-46, at home on Saturday, Oct. 25.
After the Fusion scored on two touchdowns by Curtis Mullin to start the contest, the Red Hawks got on the scoreboard when Rylan Young reached the end zone on a six-yard run to close the margin to 12-6.
With Richey/Lambert ahead 20-6, the Red Hawks pulled even, 20-20, on touchdown runs by Eddie Orozco and Aaron Orozco.
Richey/Lambert gained a 36-20 lead on a 69-yard dash by Mullin and then a 16-yard pass from Mullin to Quaid Marshall. E. Orozco returned a kickoff 78 yards to close the margin to 36-26 at the half.
E. Orozco broke loose for a 64-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter to pull Froid/Lake to 36-32. After Mullin returned the ensuing kickoff 70 yard for a kickoff, the Red Hawks responded with a three-yard dash by A. Orozco. The Fusion struck again on a 47-yard kick return by Marshall.
The Red Hawks cut the margin to 50-46 on a 13-yard pass play from A. Orozco to Jake Nordlund near the end of the third quarter.
Richey/Lambert outscored the Red Hawks by a 16-0 margin in the fourth quarter. Touchdowns came from Mullin on a 21-yard run and Zane Plughoft on a 37-yard interception return.
