Lustre News

Saturday seemed like the last day for fall work and farmers were busy hauling bales off the fields, putting equipment into sheds and doing the winterizing maintenance needed. It was a day for washing windows, painting fences, mowing road edges in preparation for winter, and bringing in produce. Lustre Christian High School hosted the North Country volleyball team in the afternoon, losing its match.

We’ve had several good fall rains this week and temperatures fell Sunday into the 30s, sometimes reaching a high of 35 degrees. Lustre saw its first snowflakes on Sunday morning when the rain in the night turned to snow. What fun to see the reactions of those who had never seen snow before! The snow continued into the afternoon, but melted. By Friday afternoon, temps were back up to 54 degrees.

The area churches were welcomed to the EMB Harvest Festival on Oct. 12. Karen Fast and Eileen Traeholt prepared beautiful preludes alongside Ashtyn Traeholt on flute. There was a noon meal for all. Pastor and Mrs. Hathaway’s daughter Lisa, and her daughter from Billings, led the worship singing for both morning and afternoon services. The speaker was Gary Keibel of Omaha, Neb., and he taught from Mark. He spoke on Monday and Tuesday, as well.

The fall Bible studies have also begun. Students had an early-out from school on Thursday for MEA, which also means dorm students went to various homes for the long weekend.
