Fall has certainly arrived with temps on Friday up to 78 plummeting to 60 on Saturday, and the forecast is for freezing temps of 21 on Sunday and Monday. Those with gardens will be garnering the produce and so thankful for it. Perhaps we are ready for frost in the fields too.

Coming events in Lustre are Awana on Wednesdays, and EMB will hold its Harvest Festival on Oct. 12, with Gary Kreibel as speaker.

The Lustre grade school Jr. high team has worked very hard this season. They played Frontier School Sept 27, in very good games. The varsity later lost their match to Scobey. The evening was dedicated to one of their teachers battling illness and it made a very special evening.

The junior high volley ball team finished their season on Oct. 4, with a tournament held in Circle. They played their first game against Circle, losing 25-19. They won their next game against North Country 25-8. They played Frontier, winning 2515, and lost 21-25 to Nashua. These were in the section called pool play, determining the placement for the tournament with Circle, Lustre, Nashua, Frontier, and North Country as teams. Frontier won their battle with North Country, Lustre won over Nashua. Circle had a bye, and lost to Frontier in their match. This put Lustre and Frontier in the championship! Lustre won (25-11) the first game, lost the next game, and came back from behind (11-14) to tie at 14, and win the champion- ship (16-14).
