Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 140 calls during Sept. 22-29.

The calls included the following: Sept. 22

Deputies received a report that a male wearing an orange jumpsuit was walking by the cemetery. The tribal jail told deputies that no inmates were missing. It turned out the male was wearing a blue jumpsuit. Only orange jumpsuits are used at the tribal jail.

A deputy was handling an open container violation near TJ’s Quik Stop in Poplar. The deputy was attacked by a large dog more than once. The deputy shot the dog dead. The deputy had a puncture on his leg. The deputy now needs to undergo shots for rabies. Animal control reported that they have been looking for the dog since previous reports of attacks.

Sept. 23

Deputies responded to a store in Culbertson where the owner suspected an employee taking money from the business. Deputies investigated incidents and collected the store’s video. The case was forwarded to the county attorney’s office.

Sept. 24

Deputies responded to the Wolf Point hospital where an adult male had a gunshot wound to his leg. The man refused to give information about where the incident took place. He claimed the gunshot was accidental.

Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Fire Department at a structure fire on Granville Street.

Sept. 25

Deputies assisted the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice with an incident in Poplar. Rain Shepherd, 27, was charged with aggravated assault. Autumn Lea Falcon, 50, was cited for hindering law enforcement.

Sept. 26

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ regarding a report of a large fight at Tribal Express in Poplar. Individuals were separated. The incident is still under investigation.

Deputies assisted at a vehicle crash on BIA Route 40 near Poplar. The vehicle came to rest on its roof. One individual suffered an ankle injury. Also responding were the Montana Highway Patrol, Poplar Fire Department, Poplar Ambulance and FPTDLJ.

Sept. 27

Deputies responded to Poplar where an adult male jumped out of a pickup and then punched another male.

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ on the report of an assault. A female said she was jumped the other night and suffered a lot of injuries. She went to the hospital. The tribal investigator was notified.

Deputies arrested Darion Lee Bowland, 28, in Culbertson on authority of an active warrant for a traffic violation.

Sept. 28

Deputies received a report of an adult female trying to climb into a homeowner’s property through a window. Sonia Jones, 42, was arrested for a parole violation.

Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Police Department and FPTDLJ after there was a report of shots being fired behind Town Pump in Wolf Point.

Deputies received a report of an adult male hitting houses in the Poplar airport addition with a baseball bat.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s report activity statistics for the past week were: Wolf Point city limits, 11; Wolf Point, FPHA, three; Poplar city limits, 25; Poplar rural, two; Poplar FPHA Airport Addition, four; Poplar FPHA all other, one; Culbertson town, four; Culbertson rural, six; Bainville town, four; Bainville rural, three; Froid town, one; Williams County, two; Brockton town, six; Brockton rural, eight; Fort Kipp, seven; total, 87.
