Nygard Faces Charges After Driving Loader

Taylor Douglas Nygard is facing the felony charge of criminal mischief and misdemeanor charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after allegedly driving a front end loader owned by Roosevelt County on July 22.

According to court documents, deputies received a call from a county commissioner that a front end loader, valued at $75,000, was missing and presumed stolen. It was last known to be parked at a gravel pit on Road 1075.

Later that day, the loader was found at another gravel pit on Powder River Road, approximately one mile southeast of where it was stolen. Officials reported that the window immediately behind the driver’s door had been pried open and broken.

After receiving a report that Nygard may have been involved in the incident, deputies interviewed Nygard, who initially denied having any involvement in driving the loader. He eventually admitted to taking the loader to help a friend who got his RV stuck on a county road. After getting the RV unstuck, Nygard left the loader at the gravel pit on Powder River Road because it was closer than the gravel pit on Road 1075.

Nygard said he no intention of keeping the loader and that he simply took it to help his friend. He admitted to gaining entry to the loader via the window but denied breaking it.
