Commissioners Receive Bids For Bridge Project

The Roosevelt County Commissioners were pleased to receive five bids for a bridge replacement project in the eastern part of the county last week.

The bridge is located north of Bainville on County Road 1010 by Shotgun Creek.

The project will consist of an aluminum box culvert. “It’s a load-restricted bridge,” Commissioner Gordon Oelkers explained.

He added that the area is busy with oil and agriculture traffic.

Bids received included $496,780 from Bishop Inc., of Malta, $501,362 from Thompson Contracting of Libby, $520,676 from Franz Construction of Sidney, $595,862 from Strata Corp., from Williston, N.D., and $757,325 from Young Guns Construction.

Since engineers’ estimates were that the project would cost more than $600,000 to complete, commissioners were pleased with the bids.

“It was nice to see that many bids,” Oelkers said. “And that it’s competitive bidding again.”

All bids will be taken under advisement. Commissioners will likely make a decision for accepting a bid during their meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
