New Roosevelt County Public Health Director Starts Oct. 1

Roosevelt County commissioners approved the hiring of Jenny Fuller as the county’s public health director during their weekly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 19.

Commissioners noted that Fuller is a strong grant writer and has a solid financial background. Fuller is also well versed in crisis coalition. She will start her duties on Oct. 1.

“I think she will take the health department in the right directions,” Commissioner Robert Toavs said.

Commissioners expressed their appreciation that Patty Presser, current director of the health department, was willing to take the head nursing duties. They said Presser told them she would do either position to benefit the health department.

Also during the meeting, commissioners announced they have reached union contract agreements with both Local #118 (road department) and Teamsters Local Union #2 (9-1-1). Both of the two-year contracts call for $1 an hour raise increases for each year as well as continued full health insurance coverage.

Commissioners approved $500 to have Ellerkamp Construction repair the roof at the Bainville Museum.

During commissioners’ reports, Commissioner Doug Marottek said he attended the 9-1-1 meeting where possible new hires were discussed.

Toavs enjoyed his time spent at the Roosevelt County Fair. He said there was a fantastic turnout for the livestock auction.

Commissioner Gordon Oelkers said attendance for senior meals is down throughout the county. He encouraged seniors to attend and enjoy the good dinners for an inexpensive payment. Hired were Dalyn Schmidt for the sheriff’s office and Helen Welte for the treasurer’s office.
