Lady Wolves Feature Talented, Hard-Working Group

Wolf Point’s volleyball team looks for a strong season with the returning of many letterwinners from a season ago.
Back for the Wolves are senior Lauren Rodenberg, senior Marley Moran, senior Ma’Kenzie Jackson, sophomore Addy Smith, sophomore Mattie Azure, freshman Maia Kent, freshman McKinlee Paulson and freshman Anna Matejovsky.
Coach Nicole Paulson said the team’s strengths are that the girls are very coachable, hard workers and are encouraging teammates. Paulson is assisted by T’Elle Evans, Cody Larson and Shania Chavez.
Coach Paulson said the Wolves need to keep everyone healthy and injury free. Areas to work on include serving and passing.
“I see promising consistency from girls that put in work this summer on skills,” Coach Paulson said. “Goals for this season is having more success than last season.”
Wolf Point will host both the district and divisional tournaments this year. The Wolves aim to qualify for the divisional tournament.
“We have the talent and the work ethic, just need to drive through the competition and hard matches,” the coach said. “The players we have can play almost every position and are very well rounded.”
She expects Malta and Fairview to be among the top teams in the league.
“A lot of teams in the district lost a good amount of seniors and three teams with new head coaches,” Paulson said. “Plentywood being back into Class B adds another team into our district and not familiar with the players they have in their program.”
The Wolves are exciting to open the season at a tournament in Choteau. “We have small numbers this year, but we are young and they will get a ton of playing time and repetitions and will continue to see improvements throughout the season,” Paulson said. “The majority of the team are dual sport athletes, multiple sport athletes and academic all state athletes. This is what our coaching staff are proud of, great kids on and off the court and excellent students in the classroom, true role models.”
