Lustre News

The summer is coming to a close with the beginning of school on Aug. 20. Opening Welcome Ceremony for LCHS will begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24. We encourage those interested in the on-going work of the school to attend to welcome back our returning students and new students!
The new teachers are as follows: Music will be taught by Jerson Ayuno, who has just arrived from the Philippines. He will also teach music for Lustre Grade School. Bob Ivester will teach social studies, and Pastor Wayne Hathaway will be teaching the Bible classes.
Returning teachers are Nicky Hilkemann (science), Nathan Lu (math) and Trisha Reddig (art). Monitoring English will be Jenn Zerbe. The administrator is Wes Young. Lynette Froilland continues as secretary for the LCHS. The many volunteers are appreciated as well.
Justice Byers, Samuel Byers and Grace Byers were part of the Broadway musical Disney’s Newsies as Borough Newsies, playing at the Fort Peck Theatre on July 25-27, Aug. 1-3 and Aug. 8-10. Grace also played the part of one of the policemen. Their parents are Justin and Ashley Byers. Grace and Justice will be attending LCHS and Samuel attends LGS.
Area youth participated in the Valley County Fair, though Lustre does not have a 4-H club. It was a good experience.
Harvest is beginning. Keep the farmers in your prayers as farming is a dangerous occupation, and safety is important on our nation’s family farms.
