Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 132 calls during July 28 to Aug. 4.

The calls included the following: July 28

Deputies received a report of a burglary in the Wolf Point area, outside the city limits. Some tools were reported missing. The investigation is continuing.

Deputies assisted the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice with a report of a fight involving multiple individuals at the Buckhorn Bar in Poplar. A male who had blood on his T-shirt was detained. Deputies interviewed all parties involved. No arrests were made.

July 30

Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to close to the Poplar Schools for a report of a disturbance. A female said she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. Deputies gave her a victim’s packet from the Red Bird Woman Center. Law enforcement took photos and requested the video from the school.

July 31

Deputies responded to Poplar for a report of a burglary. An elderly female said someone broke into her house. She was missing some valuables including a large jar of coins. The case is still pending.

Aug. 1

Deputies received a call from Poplar regarding two juveniles who appeared to be lost after midnight. They were carrying buckets of water to their house. Deputies transported them home.

Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Police Department regarding a report of a large group fighting in front of the lumberyard. One juvenile male was arrested for assaulting an adult male.

Deputies responded to Poplar’s tribal housing. A female reported her brother wanted more money from her for a TV. When she refused, he reportedly choked her. The suspect was located at another residence. Robert Russell, 44, was charged with partner/family member assault.

Aug. 3

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ in Poplar regarding a report of someone hearing three or four gun shots being fired. A male was arrested by FPTDLJ.

Deputies and FPTDLJ received a report of a car being driven by an intoxicated driver in Fort Kipp. Deputies found the vehicle and pulled it over. The male driver was impaired. CJ Blackdog also had a tribal order not to drive.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff ’s report activity statistics for the past week were: Wolf Point city limits, four; Wolf Point rural, one; Wolf Point FPHA areas, one; Poplar city limits, 52; Poplar rural, seven; Poplar FPHA all other, 14; Culbertson town, six; Culbertson rural, three; Bainville town, four; Bainville rural, five; Froid rural, two; Richland County, one; any other area, one; Brockton town, 10; Brockton rural, three; Fort Kipp, 13; Frazer rural, two: total, 132.
