Retiring Teacher Honored In Frazer

Frazer residents saluted a long-time teacher for his commitment to the local school system on Saturday, May 24.
Dan Crotty got a late start in teaching, but his 23 years teaching math at the school were definitely appreciated.
Crotty explained that he began teaching at the age of 40 after a previous career as an engineer. “I got tired of engineering kind of,” he explained.
During his first couple of years at the school, he led the production of a yearbook since the school didn’t have such a publication at that time. “Every school needs a yearbook,” Crotty said.
He actually brought several yearbooks through the years for people to glance over during Saturday’s party.
“It’s interesting. The kids are interesting,” Crotty said of teaching in Frazer. “It’s a nice school.”
Changes in education during his time in Frazer include the increased use of the internet and cellphones.
Crotty, who owns the bowling alley in Nashua, plans to stay in the area for at least a while.
Those in attendance at the party included Dorothy Morrison who retired in 2016 after teaching in Frazer for 37 years.
School board chair Yancey Beston also attended. He served on the board from 2005-2008 and then again starting in 2011.
