Richard Brien Sr.
Richard Leroy Brien Sr. died March 23, 2025, in Poplar.
He was born Oct. 20, 1964, to Roberta and George Brien. He lived in Glasgow in his early years of life before going on the LDS Placement Program in Washington state. When he returned, he lived in Poplar for the remainder of his life.
As a young man, he was always smiling and friendly to everyone he came in contact with. He was a “hands on” type of person and learned different skills in the construction field. He was the “handy man” who was always there to help whenever family or friends needed him.
His first job was being a firefighter for about 10 years and then he worked on the pipeline, constructing the waterline north of Poplar. After that, he worked on building roads with a number of road construction companies working on and off the reservation. He also worked on the construction of the Assiniboine & Sioux Rural Water Supply System pipeline.
He was currently employed with the Fort Peck Tribes Community Services Department. This job gave him an opportunity to meet the
