Wolf Point City Council Votes Down Malt Liquor Ban
The Wolf Point City Council held their regular meeting May 15. There were two people in the audience, both local residents, with complaints about harassment from a neighbor and fears about the safety of children and pets on their street.
Wolf Point Police Chief Alisha Morales confirmed the nature of the complaints and explained that her department could do nothing to help.
Mayor Chris Dschaak said the city police have no jurisdiction and encouraged the residents to call 911 if they need assistance.
A second reading of a proposed ban on malt liquor sales was voted down after Dschaak explained that the Montana Department of Revenue would not allow any ban targeting specific alcohol products to take effect.
A task order for Interstate Engineering was approved in the amount of approximately $310,000 for asphalt work at the airport. John Bach gave addressed the council and advised the council to accept a bid from Hardrives Construction, which they did.
The council approved a grant request for $11,915 in ARPA funds which are still available to use for payroll and other items at the airport.
The City of Glasgow made a request to pay for use of the municipal pool during off hours for practices. Glasgowâs pool is closed. Dschaak said the city agreed to allow the practices.
The council accepted the resignation of assistant chief Enrique Morales and thanked him for more than six years of service.
Greg Lukasik from Great West Engineering spoke to the council and said phase 1 of the wastewater project is expected to plan around events related to the Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede.
Treasurerâs cash and expenditure reports were approved, as was payroll.
The next regular council meeting is set for June 19 at 7 p.m.
