Celebration To Include Human Stampede

The Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture reviewed some plans for the 100th Stampede during its monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 4.

Taylor Gardner, director of marketing and public relations for the Northeast Montana Health Services, said NEMHS is excited to be the main sponsor of the Human Stampede this year and for years to come.

Gardner said Jon Wetsit and R.C. Page will work on the route for the run. She will take care of marketing. Cost will be $15 per race to cover the cost of a T-shirt. A link will be available for pre-registration.

Also during the meeting, NEMHS agreed to serve as one of the sponsors for the next Brewfest.

Julie D’Ambrosio, executive director for the chamber, said she is working on an events grant to help pay for items such as advertising, banners and porta-potties.

Jerald Petersen, president of the chamber, reminded the board that the “Saddle Up and Open Chutes For the 100th Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede,” auction is scheduled for May 5, at the Wolf Point Elks Event Center. There is no charge to attend the event. Snacks will begin at 6 p.m., and the auction will start at 7 p.m.

Funds from the auction will be used to help pay for some of the Stampede celebration’s fun activities on July 5-8.

Businesses and individuals are encouraged to start planning for their parade float now. Organizers are hopeful that this is the biggest parade in many years.

The Stampede festivities will start Wednesday, July 5, with a steak fondue at the Big Sky Corral and the Wild Horse Ranch Rodeo, followed by the Kyle Shobe and The Walk ‘Em Boys concert, located at the Marvin Brookman Stadium. The ranch rodeo will begin at 6 p.m. The meal is anticipated to be from 4-6 p.m.
