Brockton Elementary Receives Grant From Masonic Foundation, Plans Summer Reading Program

The Montana Masonic Foundation announced March 29 that it has awarded education grants across the state of Montana, including Brockton Elementary School.

The organization’s Educational Grant Program provides Montana schools with an opportunity to enhance student learning by providing funds to help offset startup costs or alleviate other budgetary restrictions for educational projects within the schools they’ve helped.

This year, Brockton Elementary School library was awarded $2,500 to help fund their summer reading program.

“Each summer, students are at risk of losing ground with their reading skills,” said Leona Colvin, Brockton Elementary School librarian.

Colvin told the Community

News that the grant was already helping with literacy efforts.

“The summer reading program is in the early planning stages and this funding will help so much,” Colvin said.
