In February, the Sidney Health Center Cancer Care team attended the Triple State Oncology Society Meeting in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The meeting included members from the Montana, Wyoming and Idaho Oncology Societies through the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC). The annual meeting serves to gather, educate, network and recognize members who volunteer several hours.

The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) is a community of cancer centers — representing members nationwide from all care delivery settings: comprehensive cancer programs, health systems, academic centers, community cancer programs, and private practices. Members gain access to an ongoing source of support and information to help navigate the accelerating course of change — programmatically, operationally, fiscally and clinically.

This year, the Triple State Oncology Society recognized Dr. Chad Pedersen for his efforts in advocacy, research, education, and serving underserved populations.

“Dr. Pedersen has been instrumental in providing education in these three states at conferences, meetings, and trainings for several years He is an advocate for staying up-to-date with new upcoming testing, treatments and advanced surgical resections for cancer care treatment,” said Shannon Isakson, who is the nursing state liaison the Triple State Oncology Society.

“Dr. Pedersen has gone above and beyond. He is not only a great mentor but has become a dear friend through our work together on the society,” noted Isakson.

Sidney Health Center’s Cancer Care team is comprised of full-time, board-certified medical and radiation oncologists, a nurse practitioner, medical physicist, nurses certified in chemotherapy administration, radiation therapists and administrative support staff who take time to understand and guide patients through their care plan. The team is rounded out with support from pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, surgery and rehabilitation services.
