Area Churches Provide Great Ways To Volunteer

Despite their philosophical differences, the many churches across northeast Montana provide their members numerous opportunities to serve their communities ... and sometimes serve communities across the country and the world.

Examples of local community service include: The First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point provides space for blood drives and also provide scholarships for students.

The Patience and Peace Circle of First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point has made giving a year-long activity for many years. The group works through Lutheran World Relief to send baby care kits and school kits to children around the world.

Community Bible Church in Wolf Point has become active by organizing a community choir. The church recently has started providing free doughnuts and coffee at Triangle Park.

Area Catholic churches presented a dinner to raise funds to help people from the area travel to Lisbon, Portugal, for a pilgrimage.

Many churches hold vacation Bible schools during the summer to educate children about the Christian faith. Gospel Fellowship Church in Wolf Point had a turnout of more than 100 children last summer.

Area churches also take part in Operation Christmas Child that packs shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world.

First Baptist Church in Wolf Point has held summer youth groups that have been popular.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spreads their message throughout the community by doing community service, including a project in which they photographed about 5,000 headstones in the Wolf Point area and uploaded them to the BillionGraves website in 2020.

Members from various congregations come together to meet for a quarterly prayer meeting where they pray for the community, state and nation.

Blue Sky Ministries in Wolf Point hosts annual camp meetings to bring their congregation together and spread the Bible’s teachings.

Christians believe that the church can be a stabilizing force for good in a world that is increasingly unreligious. The church can support people who are going through difficulties and need a helping hand. The churches in our area are called for this mission of community service.
