Visitors Should Plan Now To Attend Stampede

Visitors coming for the 100th Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede will have more opportunities to stay in nearby hotel rooms than in previous years.

This year’s schedule shows the Wolf Point Stampede is the weekend of July 6-8 while the Governor’s Cup Walleye Tournament in Glasgow takes place a weekend later, July 13-15.

Usually, the two big events occur the same weekend because the Governor’s Cup starts the second Friday of July.

Because July 1 is a Saturday and the way the schedules fall on the calendar, visitors who might struggle finding a vacancy in Wolf Point, should be able to find a room or camping in Glasgow or Fort Peck as well.

The Sherman Inn in Wolf Point announced that it will start taking room reservation for Stampede weekend at 10 a.m. on Jan. 10. They will be accepting reservations over the phone.

Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture president Aaron Kurokawa said at a recent meeting that Jared Stewart and Jarred Hanson have each committed to entertain during street dances.

Other activities during the weekend will include a pitchfork fondue, a ranch rodeo, re-enactors, a Human Stampede and larger parades.
