Black Dog Makes Not Guilty Plea To Meth Charges

Danyell Rose Black Dog, 22, of Poplar appeared in Great Falls before U.S. Magistrate Judge John T. Johnston and made a plea of not guilty on charges of possession with intent to distribute meth and distribution of meth resulting in death.

If convicted of the most serious crime, Black Dog faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, a $1 million fine and three years of supervised release.

Black Dog was detained pending further proceedings.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Fort Peck Tribes investigated the case.

According to court records, Black Dog on Aug. 27, 2021, in or near Poplar knowingly and unlawfully distributed a substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, and the distribution of the said methamphetamine caused the death of Jane Doe.

Court documents also read that beginning in at least August 2018 and continuing thereafter through at least August 2021 in or near Poplar, Black Dog knowingly and unlawfully possessed, with the intent to distribute, a substance containing a detectable amount of meth.
