Poplar Ice Fishing Tournament Set
The Poplar River Ice Fishing Tournament has been set for Feb. 4, according to organizer Doug Marottek. The event is held southwest of the city at Dego Bend beginning at 10 a.m. All holes will be pre-drilled and the event will last approximately five hours. Tribal fishing licenes will not be required and no vehicles will be allowed on the ice. Entry costs have yet to be determined but previous entry fees were under $25 for multiple holes.
Last yearâs tournament was won by Roger Headdress, who took away $2,000 for an 11.6 pound pike, breaking the competitionâs record for largest catch. For more information about this yearâs event, visit the groupâs Facebook page. Dates/times may change with weather conditions.
