County Library Board Meets
The Roosevelt County Library board held their regular meeting Nov. 12 via Zoom.
Trustees present included chairperson Beth Hekkel, Helen Welte and library director Janet Livingston. Montana State Library statewide consultant Suzanne Reymer was also present.
The next phase of the Library Network Upgrade Project has been completed with the rack in place and the wiring done. There has been no update on the security cameras.
The memorandum of understanding between the James E. Shanley Tribal Library in Poplar and Roosevelt County has been approved and signed by the commissioners. It will go to Haven Gourneau, the Fort Peck College president in Poplar, for her signature.
Discussion on the next steps to creating a strategic plan were discussed. Reymer shared some information and Livingston said she will gather information from staff and look at templates used by other organizations. A questionnaire template will be created for approval at the next meeting.
According to Jessica Kierstead, the Culbertson Library will be closed Thanksgiving week.
At the main library in Wolf Point, plans are in the works for a couple of Christmas family craft sessions to decorate bird houses to resemble a gingerbread houses. Livingston is doing playtime pals. The 1,000 books before kindergarten program is going strong with several children and parents participating.
A revision to the hotspot checkout agreement was discussed and was tabled until the next meeting to get more input from the rest of the board members.
Applications have been received for the two circulation librarian and janitor positions. Several interviews have been conducted with a couple more to be scheduled in the next week or so.
Since there was no quorum, the minutes were tabled until the next meeting. The statement of accounts for October were discussed. The largest expense was for $2,201.66 to Ebsco for the magazine subscriptions for the main and branches.

The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17, via Zoom.
