School Board Begins Superintendent Search

Wolf Point school officials discussed plans for a superintendent search during a special meeting on Monday, Sept. 26.

During a conference call with the Montana School Board Association, school board members agreed to advertise the position for a salary range of $100,000 to $120,000 along with offering health insurance. Moving expenses of $2,000 will also be provided.

Advertising for the position will start the week of Oct. 3. Closing date is Nov. 10.

The Montana School Board Association will then assist trustees with the interview process.

Also during the meeting, trustees approved Esser II projects of a windows and classroom modernization at Northside, an outdoor learning space and antibacterial air curtains.

Hired were Samantha Goodman and Terra Pronto for Southside special education paraprofessionals, Corinne Smith as Southside paraprofessional, Sen Pin Andrew Vun as school psychologist on a stipend, Stacey Traeholt as payroll/claims clerk II, Dawn Garfield as adult education coordinator and Martin Toavs as FFA advisor.

Trustees approved paying $3,000 recruitment and retention incentives to long-term substitute teachers Jacob Boysun and Sandra Sather-Westley and $1,500 to parttime crosswalk guard staff member John Plestina.

The board discusses meetings to develop a five-year strategic plan for the school district. The first meeting is tentatively set for Nov. 17.
