He is hopeful the Wolf Point Community Organization or other non-profit groups offer rides to people to voting booths. Satellite voting booths are planned at the Fort Peck Community College in Poplar and at Frazer High School.

Fourstar is hoping to conduct a town hall meeting including tribal candidates and state House candidates.

He and Smith will attend a legislative redistricting meeting in Billings during September with the goal of protecting Native Americans’ rights.

“If they don’t hear from us, they will assume the Republican’s plans are what people what,” Fourstar said of the redistricting map proposals. “The main thing is it has be fair for representation.”

He stresses that if Native Americans don’t have adequate representation in the Montana Legislature, it could undermine gains made during the last 20-30 years.
